Repairing our Nuffield 10/60 nose cone

Nuffield 10/60 restoration – repairing the nose cone

The metal on the Nuffield nose cone was badly rusted around the bottom and on one side, Harry asked me if I would weld in some new sections so he could use it again.

The bottom of the nose cone was badly rusted.

I began by cutting the rusted sections out, leaving only good metal to weld to.

the side of the nose cone was rotten
The side of the nose cone needed new metal.

Rather than tracing around the rotten edge I made straight cuts, as the repair always looks much better.

After I had cut the rotten metal away, I cleaned the paint away using the grinder to make welding with the mig easier.
