This evening we pulled the Nuffield out of the shed to see if it would start after rebuilding the engine with a new head gasket.
We hooked the rear hitch of the Nuffied to the front weight frame of the MF135 using a towing bar, this kept the Nuffield in control when we were starting it as the brakes weren’t fitted yet.
We took it out into the yard and I pushed Tommy down the lane, and Harry refilled the makeshift diesel tank we had hooked up.
After a few pushes the Nuffield burst into life, for the first time in 20 years.
It will need the tappets set again as a few had quite a difference in their clearances, but it was great to hear the tractor running again.
