Started painting the Nuffield 10/60

On Saturday Harry and his granda Tommy applied the first coat of paint onto the chassis of the Nuffield 10/60.

I got the paint mixed at a local motor factors, it was standard machinery paint mixed to the colour of Nuffield Poppy Red.

They brought the tractor into the workshop as it was raining outside and dried it off using the heater.

After the chassis was dry it got a quick rub with sandpaper to ensure the paint would stick. The original paint was surprisingly good on the chassis so there was not much rubbing done.

Then the heater was turned off and windows opened to allow a good breeze through the workshop and after an hour they got the first coat of paint on.

The diesel tank got some paint too.

They also painted the diesel tank and a few other bits so the tractor can be assembled to drive to other sheds until the tinwork is finished.
