checking for weeds in my swede field

Weeds in the swede field – update 6

It has just past 10 weeks since I sprayed the weeds in the swede field – the outside temperatures are now around 8 to 10 degrees and things are starting to green up, the grass is growing and hedges are showing green leaves.

I am still deciding on the date to sow the swedes – although the weather will have the final say. Traditionally the end of May is when they should be sown, but I’d like to get them sown before that.

May is generally a warm dry month, especially near the end of May, I would prefer more rain at the germinating stage, but I’d like to try and avoid the first generation of cabbage root fly also.

I will keep monitoring the field for weeds right up until I sow it again.
